IN A FEW WORDS: I share how I dealt with my own hour of darkness and which Let’s Sandbox posts helped me.
Today Doubt crept in. I tried to ignore it. Then, Fear joined in. I acted as if nothing had happened. By the afternoon, I realised that Uncertainty, Anxiety and Longing had also entered the ring. We were wrestling and I was losing the fight.
These are the moments when Love, Creativity and Courage step back and the Ghosts take centre stage.
I reasoned that the first move was to summons my strength and leave the house – to get going and moving – which I did right after my morning prayer (it is a spiritual rather than a religious prayer).
Once I got to my local cafe, I went to letssandbox.com and decided to search for solace in my own writing.
I was astounded how powerful it felt to go through the archive of Sandbox posts.
Here are five posts that helped alleviate my suffering this morning and which I hope will lift you up too:
WHY IT HELPED ME: I was once again reminded that we live in the thought prison and often allow our chaotic mind chatter to sway us off balance. This post offers some good tips and a number of Eckhart’s quotes.
WHY IT HELPED ME: For many years I saw my life as a fight and it was only through intensive work and writing Let’s Sandbox that I managed to get rid off this belief and chose to see life as a dance. However, my destructive belief often resurfaces and, just like this morning, takes over. This post helped me to restore my belief system.
WHY IT HELPED ME: Besides offering many ways to rise above suffering, this post reminds us about the importance of accepting and leaning into our pain rather than attempting to flee from it.
WHY IT HELPED ME: This post is full of light(ness) and is a great inspiration to live creatively. Its child-like undertones are refreshing in moments of darkness.
WHY IT HELPED ME: It was good to reread advice I had given to myself before embarking on my journey to Asia. I am sure some of this advice will also apply to those travelling anywhere.
